What I did
Attended the Nanyang Model School Sports Day
Hi again everybody. Today was the Nanyang Model School Sports Day. Our campus has fairly tight quarters and we have a track and field, but there is no room for bleachers, so the annual (when they decide not to randomly cancel it at least) sports day is held at a nearby sports stadium called Lu Wan Sports Stadium. It is a pretty nice complex. It has that artificial field turf surface that looks like grass and has those little balls of rubber in the grass so that it simulates the feel of running and stopping on real grass. The sports day has all sorts of events, mostly running and relays, but there was also high jump, long jump, triple jump, and a cheer leading competition. The cheer leading was actually quite interesting as each homeroom class in the school choreographs their own routine and then about 8 classes at a time stand at various points on the field and perform to the same song. After those groups are done, the next 8 groups come out to the same song, and so on. Some of the routines were actually pretty good! Towards the end of the day we were informed that the teachers were supposed to compete in the 4 x 100 relay against the grade ten students, so Daniella, Ash, Richard, and Trevor Hazel took part. We got last as the baton passing was a complete disaster as nobody had any time to practice! That was perhaps part of the plan though, haha. Oh ya, and also, at the start of the day we saw the entire school in their line up formation doing the daily morning exercises at 7:30 sharp. It is quite the spectacle. Enjoy the pictures.
