Here I am for year 3, can't believe it! I am really pumped about this year, much more so than last year. I am hoping to leave China on a high note after this year, and the pieces are in place for that to happen. I am living in the Xujiahui district of Shanghai city. It is very central, with all the amenities, restaurants, etc. that one could wish for. I am in a much smaller apartment than last year, and it requires an annoying 19 floor elevator ride everyday to get to it, but other than that, I am very satisfied with my situation here. I have a subway stop right outside of my door, as well as many western restaurants, good shopping, anything I need is right at my doorstep. The school is also about a 10 minute walk away, and it is a beautiful place to work. The campus is only 3 years old (the school itself has been around for 110 years), and is immaculate. I have really grown to appreciate cleanliness after the last couple years. Soap in the bathrooms??? AMAZING!  I will really miss the staff that I worked with last year, but that said, there is a really great group of teachers at my new school, some of whom I know very well. My course load is also much better than last year. This year I will be teaching Math 10 and 11, and Science 10. Thank goodness no more Socials 10! The students here seem to be very keen, and the Chinese school is very supportive (so far) of what we are trying to accomplish here which is really refreshing. Things can change, but I am very optimistic about the coming year. I took some pictures of my neighborhood and around our school for your enjoyment. Even got some rare footage of the flag raising ceremony this morning...thankfully not a requirement for us to attend every Monday this year! Talk to you all soon.
