Sihanoukville is awesome. A really chill beach town on the Southern coast of Cambodia. Like everywhere else in Cambodia, the people here are sooooo laid back, and really warm and friendly. We stayed in a hotel on the road to Serendipity Beach called the Beach Road Hotel. It was a pretty nice place right across the street from Monkey Republic. Very nice open air restaurant/sports bar type of deal there, and a swimming pool complete with Cancun-esque pool bar. Spent most of the time there on Serendipity Beach just down the road from the hotel. Sihanoukville has about 6 different beaches that surround the town on all sides. Victory, Serendipity, Independence, Oucheunteal, etc etc......no shortage of beaches, and all cater to a different crowd. Serendipity beach appeared to be the main backpacker area. The entire beach is lined with beach bar after beach bar that also double as restaurants during the day. All of them have beach chairs and umbrellas set up in front of them so the beach is one long beach-side restaurant. One day we hopped onto a cheap day snorkeling trip which actually wasn't much snorkeling, more of a boat tour and lunch and hanging out on an uninhabited island. This was pretty cool though because the visibility wasn't all that great anyway, and the beaches we hung out at were really nice. On the island we had lunch at are a few tree-houses that you can rent out and sleep in. They are pretty cool little tree houses but I am not sure how you get food. See the pics. All in all, Sihanoukville is one of those places that without student debt, I could spend a long time at.
