We pulled into Grass Patch a little town north of Esperance. It had a park and stay with good amenities and although it was all gravel this was a welcome change from the dirt we had encountered over the previous couple of days.
It was also free washing so it allowed us to get 3 loads of washing done and then just sit back and relax. Next to us were a lovely couple from Tweed Heads, Pat and Kate who had set up earlier in the day. They were on a 15 month stint and as experienced campers gave us some good tips.
We were going to have chicken curry for dinner, but our lovely friends next door offered us some left over fish curry and also asked if we would be happy to swap our two chicken breast fillets for some of their King George Whiting of which there were about 8 large fillets. That was a hard decision to make. A good night was had by all, finishing off with strawberry and banana dipped in leftover Easter egg fondue.
The following day Pat took Angus and Bella and I down to a local dam, with permission of course, to catch a bucket full of yabbies. Angus caught the biggest one which then nipped him on the hand, with a few words exclaimed. We cooked them up and had them for lunch before we got on the road to Esperance.
