Big day on Bruny!

This morning a basket of warm bread and croissants awaited us on our doorstep :-) Whstca lovely start to the day!

This morning we decided to tackle the Fluted Cape walk - a Grade 4 rated walk where 'bushwalking experience is recommended'... okkkk. The first part was an easy walk along Adventure Bay, beautiful beach ... approaching the sea cliffs.

The next 2kms or so was an easy climb through bush, close to the sea... not too high yet and an easy path. As we climbed higher, the path got more challenging and more steep, the path less defined and the sea cliffs became more sheer and oh so high. Tom was amazing as I got scared a few times, basically feeling like I was clinging to a sea cliff by my fingernails (Tom thinks I'm exaggerating.... who, me?). At one stage we thought we were at the top (figuring the walk 'couldn't' POSSIBLY go all the way to the very top) but then we started heading uphill again.....! For a while it got very steep and a bit hairy (guess it was a grade 4) but I didn't really have a choice - turning around to go down would've been worse! So we persevered and made it to the top! Felt good to get there and the sea cliffs were impressive. The walk down was easy - a gentle winding slope through the bush. Definitely an experience and a challenging hike. Proud we did it .... doubt I'll be putting my hand up to go again!

After heading back to the bed and breakfast to get changed, we went for a late lunch at Bruny Island Premium Wines.... I had a delicious salmon burger and Tom had an equally yummy beef burger. Gorgeous spot and great food.

We then had a sunset tour of the Bruny Lighthouse- nestled at the southern tip of Bruny. A gorgeous, isolated spot - and our guide, Matt, brought the history of the lighthouse and the people who lived there to life. We had the peace and serenity of the sun setting as we watched from the lighthouse. Just beautiful. Loved it!

We had dinner at Hotel Bruny again and then home to watch the footy :-) Love holidays!!
