Friday morning we went EARLY to the Tsukiji Fish Market, one of the largest fish markets in the world. It was quite an experience! We got there in time (5 AM) to see the tuna auction. The auctioneers were quite animated and very loud. There were HUGE fish (think at least 13 feet long!) laying around everywhere, and we almost got run over a few times by forklifts. Then we had sushi for breakfast, and I have to say it was the BEST tuna I've ever had! It just melted in the mouth.
Saturday was our day "off" and some of us traveled to Kamakura, the ancient capital of Japan
Next we went to the Great Buddha, a bronze statue cast in 1252. It's about 5 stories high and 121 tons! We were so lucky to have our guides. They provided a lot of information and humor.
Next stop: Sunday we leave to go to our prefecture cities. My city is Ikeda in the Osaka prefecture.
