Happy Christmas and New Year!

Xmas Eve
Xmas Eve
I hope you all had great celebrations and are now like me, guilty forgetting the doomed-for-failure New Year's resolutions you made in a fit of reckless optimism in the closing minutes of 2006.

My Christmas was great fun, as I took it upon myself to be the Voice Of Xmas Spirit. Christmas Eve found most of the volunteers round at my house reluctantly writing letters to Santa and cutting paper snowflakes to go on the windows. We even left out carrots for the reindeer which sadly proved more of a feast for the ants than Rudolf. VSO Vols engage in adult xmas behaviour

Watching volunteers exchange gifts on xmas day was hilarious just for the level of gratitude exhibited by recipients for any gift, no matter how mundane. Cries of "ooh, a spoon" and "ratpoison - wherever did you find it?" echoed around the room in exclamations of genuine delight. Best of all, I achieved my objective of hitting the beach on xmas day. It wasn't Christmas in the traditional sense of being surrounded by family and getting to really spoil yourselves and each other, but it was a day I won't forget in a hurry. Xmas Gambian Style
