yes, it is time again. Time for another amazing journey. My friend Karin and I will be visiting India for the second time together. Last time Karin ended up in a small town "hospital" with a dirt floor and blood stains on the uncovered mattresses, along with mysterious creatures crawling around the building, patients yelling and 15-year old nurses (or did it say student on their name tag?) drawing with a ballpoint pen on Karins arm to mark where to inject the needles. In the midst of the chaos we bonded like never before and I do believe that we could travel anywhere in the world together.
And here we are again, three years later, heading for this country of curry and cheap plastic hindu statues. A magical place where over a sixth of the earths population lives together in an electrifying mix of blinking lights and high pitched Bollywood hits, incense and chai, rich and poor. The land of extreme and the land of humble. This place must simply be visited and FELT, it must be smelled and tasted. India is the heart beat of Mother Earth.
We are meeting in Kolkata and will take a train to the remote kingdom of Sikkim in the North east of the country. Sikkim, home to the third highest peek in the world; Kangchenjunga is located in between Bhutan and Nepal. With it's bamboo and lush forests to snow capped mountain peeks and home to the Himalayan black bear, Sikkim has been called the gate to a wild frontier. This is where the adventure begins!
Stay tune for the next update. First stop: Kolkata.
