Where I stayed
We made it out of the hotel and took a stroll through the freezing cold and snow covered Boston Common, no swan boats at this time of year as the lake was frozen solid! We walked through the Common and came out by the Cheers bar, we decided not to go in for a drink and some lunch as we both had a craving for some Pho Vietnamese cuisine. We found Chinatown nice and quickly, amazing how fast you act when cold and hungry! It is fantastic how much food you get for so little money in all the restaurants we have visited in Chinatown districts in the cities across Canada & the US, we have learnt on this trip that this is the place to eat and buy your food when on a budget
We tried to walk the Freedom Trail, but we gave up as the cold set into our bones. We were basically beaten down by the cold, to the point where a rethink on the route of our travels in the US was needed. We decided that it was time to get to some sunshine & warmth ASAP, as our skin had gone past pale and onto translucent! So we decided that we would head to San Diego sharpish, after a few stops in Cleveland, Chicago, St Louis & Denver. In less than two weeks we would be on a Californian beach! Oh the thought of it! We excitedly checked the weather reports for San Diego, it was 17C! That is plus 17C!! That is summer weather for a Brit!!!
So with a spring in our step we set off for Cleveland, Ohio. I am disappointed that we did not have a better time in Boston, and I vow to return! I want to see what it really has to offer, next time I will come in spring or summer though!!
