Ugh, I think I have a cold. I woke up with a sore throat and sort of a runny nose. I found a pharmacy and got some cold medicine and just taking it easy today. I leave for Antigua on a 3 PM shuttle. I was originally going to try and go up to Coban and see a coffee farm, but I am going to stay in Antigua for a few days until I feel better.

The ride from Monterrico to Antigua was hot and sticky at first. But as soon as we crossed the mountains, it was rainy and cold. The bus was packed to the max, with hardly any elbow room.

However, there was an interesting episode with the driver and two passengers. Two of the passengers handed the driver their ticket and got on the bus. About 15 minutes later we are ready to leave and the driver counts heads and counts tickets. He is short of two tickets. The driver goes through the tickets he has again and says somebody needs to give him two tickets. We are sitting on the crowded and hot bus and everybody is starting to get a little annoyed. After about 30 minutes we (everybody else on the bus) convinces the driver for everybody to get off the bus and then to call names of those tickets he has. We do this and two people obviously don't have tickets. However, they gave him the their ticket when they originally got on the bus. The driver plays ignorance and says he doesn't have the ticket so they can't get on the bus. This continues for about another 15 minutes. Finally, after much persuading from the rest of the passengers, he allows the two people on the bus. An hour after we were suppose to leave we are on our merry way.

We get to my favorite way to cross a river, via giant flat boat that the bus drivers on to. To my relief, the boat is metal (on the way over it looked like a terminate eaten piece of wood)!

I found a clean, single room in Antigua and will be staying in Antigua for a few days.
