Hello everyone!
Hope you have enjoyed the photos. Thanks for the great responses I have gotten. All is well in N'Dali. School is moving along at a brisk pace. I have to turn in my first exams tomorrow! Came down to Parakou to type them up and do some other things. The exam period isn't for a few more weeks, but of course, there is no photocopier in N'Dali, so we have to turn them into the secretary quite early. She will put type them onto a stencil and then run them off, the old-fashioned way.
I don't have too much to say today. I do want to eventually tell you more about my town, transportation, and teaching, but I haven't got much time right now. I need to get back to N'Dali and write up a quiz and a few lesson plans.
Many people have emailed asking what they can send me and which address is better to send it to. I have recently discovered that FOUR packages were sent to the Cotonou address this past summer, and I have yet to receive ONE. Thus, I have decided to use my N'Dali address instead. Do not send anything else to Cotonou. It is:
Suzanne Kratzig
B.P. 30
N'Dali
Benin
West Africa
As for my ongoing wish list, here it is:
letters!
photos!
magazines
decent pens (all the ones here are HORRIBLE, don't work well)
batteries (double A)!!!!!!!!
spice packets (for ex. McCormack's Herb and Garlic, etc.)
film
little toys for neighbor kids (nerf football, for ex.)
big plastic bottles vanilla and maple extract flavoring
cool stickers (to put on quiz and test papers)
seeds for a garden (can be easily sent in letters: red peppers, broccoli, etc.)
herbal and/or green tea (eg. celestial seasonings echinacea, sleepytime; tazo zen green tea!)
Zone Pro or Balance Bars (especially peanut butter and chocolate flavors)
potholders
soup packets or ramen noodle soup (no beef or fish ones, please)
Trader Joe's seventeen bean package
cat treats or food packets (for my cat Ella, a pickier eater than me!)
anything you think you would be missing if you were here
This list will probably be revised several times throughout my service, so instead of sending a new update each time, I will just modify this entry; therefore, if you are planning on sending a package, check the list before you do.
Hope that you all are well. Thanks for reading! Next update not till Thanksgiving, and it will be a good one!
