Arrived in Hong Kong and got the MTR Airport express into Kowloon and then a free bus service to the YMCA where we had booked up. An amazing room on the 15th floor with quite a good view from the window. Had room service as we were knackered Suzy had carbonara and Dave asked what Chicken congee was then although he decided not to have it couldn't get this across to the women over the phone so after a number of attempts to stop it from arriving, finally sat down to enjoy his strange but not too unpleasent meal that was like a rice soup with lumps of chicken on the bone, peanuts spring onions and some other unidentifiable ingredients ?!?
Enjoyed our stay at the YMCA but was too expensive so booked up at a hostel in downtown Kowloon which was cheap, only to check it out before moving our stuff and discover it was a building site!! After scouting round for ages we finally found just the place we were looking for a lovely deluxe hostel in cheun king mansions. It had a room with a window over looking the main road in Kowloon, Air con and a fridge we could use, Plus lovely staff who spoke good english, we felt like we'd struck gold.
Arrived in Hong Kong at the perfect time as we were able to go to the Autumn lantern festival in Victoria park, Causeway Bay. Had an amazing time, we brought lanterns and walked around watching all the celebrations and shows. The following day we went up to Victoria peak on the elevator tram and had a beautiful chinese meal at this really posh resturant at the top of the sky Platform. Amazing views over Hong Kong and we also went on this really nice but quite long walk that takes you right around Victoria peak.
On our last day in Hong kong we decided to go to DisneyLand which was fantastic and had such a laugh. We went on the Haunted House experience which was actually quite scary as it was full of people dressed up and acting to fear you up. I don't know if it was scarier because they were speaking in Chinese or not but on a number of occasions we jumped as they came running up to you out of the darkness. we really got into the spirit of Disney as Suzy got Minnie mouse ears and I got Mickeys, we had some funny looks as we wore them all the way back to the Hotel.
Loved Hong Kong but all to soon had to come to an end so left at about 12 on the 30th of september
