Arriving in New Zealand was a bit of a shock as we got out of the airport to a coldish slightly cloudy day, We took the Bus into Central Auckland which was miles away and finally arrived late afternoon to The Fat Camel or Nomads Camel or the fat Nomads Camel, Whatever, it was a dive. We had no heating in the rooms and had a shared living room come kitchen and shared bathroom. Plus Me and Suzy got the naf bunkbed arangement and Ted got the King size Bed. Nevermind the sleeping arangments though we were all frozen in the night! Next day decided to move to a different hostel so booked in for the following day to the ACB hostel futher up the main street right next to the Skytower. Then went back to the frozen Camel to see if we could hire heaters. Walking back up to our room with two smelly blankets we decided the internet sometimes has problems. ACB was much better and when we'd had a rest and warmed up we decided to go up the sky tower. Fantastic views and glass floors in sections that are well freaky to stand on and look straight down. Suzy and I had a buffet Dinner at the top, All you can eat, overlooking the Auckland skyline at night. Absolutely pigged out, well Dave did. So much food to choose from Dave had oysters for his starter then a whole plate piled with seafood then onto main course. The worst was the deserts though Dave ate through one of each desert then deciding he liked the panacota best and ate four of them, Piggy!
Went to a lovely bar on the last night called the London Bar and saw a couple doing Jazz who were great even though it was nearly a private performance as we were just about the only people in the bar. Had a lovely time seeing Auckland but we had to start on our journey south. Decided to get a coach pass with Intercity and caught a really early Bus to Waitomo.
