Went on a gator tour on one of those wind boats from 'Gentle Ben' and saw loads of wild life and got to hold a baby gator called 'Brutus' Got dropped off at a computer shop on the south side of the Mississippi thinking we'd just get a cab back later. After a meal, we did a bit of shopping and decided to get a cab back to the hotel, only to be told that most cabs don't like coming south of the river
Hired out a scooter from 'Mike's' the following day and rode over the bridge back to the computer store to buy a laptop, much to Mike's dismay that we had ventured on the freeway on a 50cc scooter. Also took the scooter up to Lake pontchartrain and saw the devestation still left by hurricane katrina, but it was good to see people are rebuilding and that there's an amazing spirit to the city. Strolled round the french quarter, watching street buskers and taking in the vibe of the big easy. We also took a cruise on the legendary Natchez steam boat, down the good ole Mississippi, our trip was accompanied by really spicy bloody Mary's, gumbo, all kinds of fishy delights and the best jazz in the world!
Loved our stay and extended after we found out the train we wanted to catch only left two times a week and we'd just missed one. Decided to get a plane up to Las Vegas, we wouldn't have time to see anything by train anyway, as by now we would have had to travel solidly to make it in time, for Katie and Andy's Wedding!!
