Hi everyone and welcome to our first entry.
It's just over a week to go and we've been getting in training. Starting with the Pennine Way, it wasn't easy but we managed five days of walking with full backpacks. The hardest day was the Monday walking from Horton in Ribblesdale to Malham, crossing over Penny-ghent and Fountains fell, totaling around 16miles that day and do you know what, we didn't get lost once. The mist came down at the top of the fell and I had to rely on the old compass at one point but it would seem that the old scouting skills are still there.
Getting transport was fun from Malham. There are only three buses a day. The first we missed due to breakfast so we got the midday one which turned out to be the post bus. so not only did we get a ride we also helped Pat (don't think that was his name) deliver the mail. I suppose we will have to get used to unusual forms of transport!
I think the people of Manchester found us of some amusement as they were all dressed in their work gear we looked dead sexy in walking boots and huge backpacks. Again I think we will have to get used to people staring at us as we pass through Cities.
Anyway it's off for a bath to sooth those aching shoulders and plan the next walk for the weekend.
