So, here I am in the Czech Republic. Prague has been a lovely place visit, with only just under 3 weeks of travel left before heading through to the mother ship I have purposefully slowed the pace alittle. Soon enough I will have to rejoin society and again, get a hair cut and get a real job! Who knows when I'll get another long holiday, so best I try and fit abit of down time in now. The only real decision I have had to make during my stay in Prague has been whether to travel to Budapest or Vienna next. Budapest has won by a nose (so I am off to Budapest tonight), mainly because it's not on the Euro and most people I have chatted to have put a better plug in for Budapest than Vienna. It also appears to have a direct link through to Bosnia - destination Sarajevo being next on my list following Budapest.

Back to Prague - Although heavily full of tourists Prague certainly hasn't lost its romantic charm. It's a beautiful city, perhaps why I've enjoyed wandering and lounging around here so much, having mixed in abit of reading... and shopping! After doing a little quick research on the shopping situation I found that I can shop tax free in the EU (because I don't hold an EU passport) - bonus! So I've shopped up a storm and purchased some lovely clothes, some nice jewelry. The art here is just lovely aswell, especially the glass art and I have spent alot of time just wandering through galleries. If it hadn't been for a vague memory I had of my friend Nicky and her husband Derek cursing the travel practicalities of their exotic, impractical glass lamp shade purchase whilst on their travels afew years ago, I would have no doubt come away with a glass lamp shade!

As you can probably tell I didn't get robbed on the way to Prague on the train, in fact the trip was most lovely. A Polish woman in her 50's shared the cabin with me - Ewa (pronounced Eva in English) was a Quantum Chemist who had lived in Japan, US and Canada - she was a lovely, bright, bubbly mad scientist! Great company. I think the entire homeless, drug dealing population of Prague lives outside the train station - alot of shady bods about. I do have to admit that train travel does seem abit shady in this area of the world and it does worry me slightly.

I am starting to think about the UK and I am beginning to get unusually excited about seeing my old friends. I suddenly realised last night that every period in my life will be represented with friends in London or near to - Mahurangi College friends, uni friends, Hamilton friends and special childhood buddies (Angela). Palmy isn't too well represented, but maybe Stew and Deb's will bounce back to the UK on their travels, I'm not sure. I am just so excited about that because there's no other single place in the world where I can go that will locate a group of friends gained over my entire lifetime. I think it's just the greatest thing and I can't wait to see everyone.
