Dust does strange things with your sinuses!

Well, not really much to report yet. Mike and I left Villazon yesterday at 3 on the expresso del sur train and we arrived in Uyuni at midnight. Yesterday morning was a relatively uneventful morning filled with trying to stay warm and trying to find some decent food in Villazon. Oh, I did try some coca leaves for the first time, which was an interesting experiance. So, you buy the leaves out of these huge sacks here, and you can just tear the stem off and and put them in your mounth. You dont chew on them, you just pack them around your gums, and then about ten or fifteen minutes later your gums feel like you just went to the dentist to get a cavity filled. Really an interesting experiance, but I didnt like the taste of them, so I probably wont be doing that again. Coca tea is also an interesting concoction, but its supposed to help with altitude sickness. Whether it does or not is still up in the air as far as Im concerned. So now, we are in Uyuni doing absolutely nothing, but its a gorgeous day and its always nice to relax a little. We just got signed up for a tour of the salt flats for the next few days, so that should be a neat experiance as well, and then we are headed into Chili. So, unless I can come up with something more exciting I think Im done for the moment.

Hey Luke -
Sounds like you're having loads of fun. Cooper said he misses you. Melody, Randy and Noel were in town this weekend. I've enjoyed reading your entries. Keep having fun and enojying the South American wine (don't forget to bring us back some - Malbecs are some of my favorites!).
