This morning we were all excited, as we started our journey to Zanzibar. Shortly after 6am we crossed the bay on the car ferry, took a dodgy taxi van to the port, then boarded the catamaran for Stone Town.
On arrival we had some time for exploring, then joined a Spice Tour at lunch time. Our tour leader was Ali G, who had great fun imitating South London accents. The tour started with a visit to the Old Fort and then onto the Slave Market, where slaves from Eastern African villages were sold to the Middle East. Onto to the Spice Farm, we had an interesting walk around seeing everything from pineapple and bananas to cloves, peppercorns, cocoa beans, and tumeric.
Afterwards we headed back to town, and my day ended in bed with a migraine after too many long days had finally bowled me over.
