Day 1 of 41. There are 24 of us on the tour, so it's a full truck. We have an excellent South African tour leader (who is also a superb cook), and our Kenyan driver who has an excellent sense of humour.

The day started on Saturday morning with a Township Tour in the Cape Flats, followed by lunch at a local eating place which was an experience and very enjoyable.

Finally hit the highway in the overland truck early afternoon and headed north to Citrusdal, where we pitched our tents for the first night. All went well, even though it was absolutely freezing!!
