Departed Lyon on Friday, catching the train to Chambery and on to Turin.
Saturday morning I visited Duomo di San Giovanni, home to the famous Shroud of Turin. As it's rarely on public display (in 2000 and next time will be 2025), you do get to see from a distance where it is stored (in a vacuum sealed glass case, within an aluminum case, within a glass case, covered in a cloth, behind a glass wall), i.e. you don't see much, but there is an enlarged photo of the cloth to give you an idea.
Also visited Museo Nazionale del Cinema - building it's located in was originally intended as a synagogue when constructed in 1860's, but was never used for that purpose. Inside the museum takes you on a fantastic tour of cinematic history, and ends in the temple which has 10 'chapels' dedicated to various movies. Through the centre of the temple ia a panoramic lift, taking people 85 metres through the centre of the museum to the roof.
