We're turning into travel freeloaders - Yesterday, again we managed to get around the city without paying for fares. It wasn't deliberate, just a combination of luck, misunderstanding on our part and kindness of bus drivers!

We visited Alcratraz, which lived up to our expectations. The place itself was alot smaller than we thought it would be and quite foreboding. We had an audio tour which was really interesting as they had real inmates and warders talking about their impressions and memories. The only off putting bit was a plague of flies everywhere.

We seem to be getting around SF pretty well and haven't got lost yet.........It's deceptively sunny here, it gets quite alot of mist, especially near the bridges and so we 've caught the sun- got a great panda look at the moment (especially Kim)!!!!!

Went to the Castro area last night for a meal -don't think we could have picked a worse place to eat - expensive crap food!!

We're going to China Town today so keeping our chop sticks crossed!

Thanks everybody for keeping in touch, good to hear news from home.

Lots of  love  xx

Shame about the food but at least the city's living up to expectations. And thanks to Dan for finding a long-lost Benny Hill gag. Last seen in about 1976. 'The old ones are ones'.

Raining here in LGC today. Sounds like the sun is smiling on you two. Long may it continue.
