To Cusco
Entry 21 of 55 | show all | print this entry |
That was one helluva brutal bus ride! Cusco is less than 400 kms from Nazca as the crow flies. We left at 9:00 p.m. and arrived at 11:00 a.m. this morning! 14 hours. The entire journey is a series of switchbacks, climbing up and rolling down mountain after mountain. I guess there are no passes. The constant sharp turning, abrupt and hard braking and accelerating make it nearly impossible to sleep. Cruz del Sur lives up to its rep yet again. The buses are modern, comfortable, clean and secure, complete with a 'flight attendant' and meals.
Cusco is a beautiful city full of tourists, more European in look and feel than Arequipa.
