It takes nearly two hours to get over to Khoa San from my hostel in Sukhumvit. I got to my first choice of guesthouses (really it's a hotel) at around 10:30 and was able to snag a single room with A/C and hot shower for 450 baht, about $15 bucks a night. No maid service, mind you. Returning to the old hostel and jockeying my stuff back took up a good chunk of the day. By the time I put my stuff in my new room it was mid-afternoon and time for a cool one. There's a 7-11 attached to the hotel. I thought I'd grab one there and sit out on the sidewalk. What? They don't sell beer between 2 and 5 p.m.? Some crazy-ass rule designed to get people into the bars? Anyway, there's a crazy Brazilian standing there looking for beer too. So we head down to a bar on the corner. He's killing time before heading on an overnight to Ko Phi Phi. Brazilians are crazy-fun. Always good for a laugh.
Later, at five, after two big bottles of Chang beer, I meet David Rogers, a bloke from England who I met in HK, at The D&D Inn on Khoa San for happy hour. By this time, I'm feeling no pain and things just keep rolling. We take a break to go get showered up and agree to meet again at 8 for a night out. One problem. I lay down for a quick nap and end up crashing until midnight. Oh well, I'll head back to Khoa San to see if I can find Dave. No luck. But I do run into two girls I met at the Dusk 'til Dawn club in HK! This happens so often it starts not to surprise you. I keep expecting to run into someone I met in SA. We hit a few of the hot spots on Khoa San. Home to bed at about 4:30.
