Ramble On

"A-ramble on, and now's the time, the time is now. Sing my song, I'm goin' 'round the world..." Aaaah Led Zep. How fitting--perfect. Although somewhat seasoned after three months of backpacking through parts of brilliant South America, I have that same nervous, excited, anxious feeling one gets before heading out on a journey of this sort, alone. This time, South East Asia. And no return ticket. Lots of time and the spirit of adventure and a willingness to party, if necessary. And an unlimited supply of cash. Yeah right. Okay, well the other stuff anyway. Packing was easier this time. Less weather and I sorta know what I'm doing now.
First it's a 10:00 a.m. Westjet to Vancouver. Then, two hours after arriving in Van, it's a 14 hour Air Canada flight to Hong Kong. I arrive the next day, February 6th at 19:00 which will be something like 2:00 a.m. Edmonton time. February 7th is Chinese New Year! After five days in HK, it'll be a two and a half hour Emirates flight to Bangkok arriving at midnight. Nice. An afternoon arrival was possible at prices more than double the 190 bucks I paid, all in. (Total cost of all flights to Bangkok, $955.) After that, who knows?
Stay tuned.

Thailand
Hi Gordo, Or should I say 'The El Gordo Just read your blog today and see you are on your way to Asia. Wow that makes me want to be there in Southern Thailand. I was actually just thinking the other day how much I'd like to go back there. It has been several years since. One of the best trips I have ever been on. And you're there and I'm not. Hope to see some stories. And see you whenever you get back....... Mai Pen Rai Sawa Di Krap Travel Safe Jim S.
