Ok! So Filippo and I got our rental caravan (which turned out to be a 4wd land cruiser woo hoo!) and headed off for Perth. Now for those of you who don't know, Perth is the biggest city in Western Australia and so not as many people go there to visit (since it's so far away) It's about 2800 kilometer drive or 20 plus hours!! So, first evening we got a late start- drove as far as we could and then parked and slept in the car.. FREEZING! I've since caught a cold because of it :(
Day 2 we set off towards the Nullarbor Plain which is a huge stretch of road that goes across southern australia. Well, I was a wee tired from driving so much and decided to let Filippo drive. 20 min later we pulled into some small town named Ceduna, and as we got out to see the ocean- we noticed the tire making noise.. Turns out we hit a nail and got a flat!! We made it to the Visitor info center where some very attractive aussie surfer dude who worked there attempted to explain HOW to change a tire!! lol.. Neither of us had ever done it!! I've also discovered that my lovely travelling companion is a beautiful intelligent person but also SO lazy!! I ended up doing most of it myself, getting all the way to positioning the jack, when some other travllers with the assistance of the surfer dude decided to help- as my lovely Italian friend stood by looking oh so handsome!. Now, since the next town wasn't for another 400 kilometers or so, we had to fix the tire. BUT in a small town like Ceduna, not much is open on Sunday. So reluctantly we found some cheap caravan park with little cabins to stay in. Next day, thanks to the Michelin tire store, we fixed our tire and were on our way!
