Wow, so some new experiences to catch you up on! Again, sorry pics haven't been posted, but as soon as I can get to a cafe that I can download them onto I will. Hmm.. now, where to begin? We last left off after Phillip Island. So back in Melbourne, Fillippo and I hung out that following Thurs, Fri, and Sat. We ended saturday night by hanging out with some insane people at his hostel. His is much bigger and a little more dodgey than the YHA. There are like no cooking utensils for people and the people themselves were a tad strange. I arrived to be greeted by some Indian student travelling, a very bubbly swedish girl, Fillippo, and 2 uniquely crazy italian friends of his. One reminded me of the typical italian stuck in an insane asylum and the other of a mafioso.. haha.. naw, nice girls- but very Italian :) Then there were (shall I dare say) 2 kinda slutty german girls (who were pining for the italians), and little ol me :) We had some wine at the hostel (out of coffee mugs that weren't exactly clean), and then later went to go dancing
Monday came and Fillippo and I once again hung out, walked into town to get pizza, walked to his hostel, then I had to walk home in order to get my bags in time for the bus.. let's just say there was walking walking walking!!! I sadly had to fork out the $7 to catch a taxi to the station cause I was being too chatty and was running late. Made it on time (with my every increasing bags) :) So then we got stuck on a 9 hour greyhound australia bus ride to Adelaide. Didn't sleep much since Fillippo was sitting in front of me and we were trying to share headphones (which left me squished up against his seat) lol.. but once we arrived at 5:30 in the morning!!! we had to search out a hostel. Couldve been much easier said than done.. but for some reason, Fillippo didnt want to book online- he has a thing with info centers :) Anyways, we rang one up and luckily they came to pick us up from the station. Oh how the fun begins. We met this girl there who is from Switzerland (she didnt know where she was going either).. and so we invited her to come with us. Which worked out lovely because the guy put her and I in a room alone, instead of sticking me in a room with Fillippo!! So now there is me, the swiss, and 3 koreans in this TINY room!! No lockers, 3 sets of bunk beds with foam mattresses and nothing else
beach
. And BOY did we dance!! Till 6:30 in the morning!! eeek! I slept a good chunk the next day but didnt get to spend anytime with Fillip cause he was going on a daytour.. big tree
. Just minute floor space to cram our stuff and hope it doesnt all get mixed up. :) Other interesting part? you walk into the hostel.. past a small (dirty kitchen with complimentary jelly, milk (which they are out of), and cereal.. ooops! Out of cereal as well!! haha.. then there are a few more rooms and a lounge area outside. RIGHT next to my room. so you walk onto the patio, and ours is the only room there.. to use the loo? Oh, just 1 toilet next to our room (with no door but clearly within hearing range of the patio) and then 1 toilet inside next to the 2 showers that all 45 backpackers have to use.. Can we say, yum yum? :) Naw, its not too bad. No bugs or boogers on the walls so far. And well, considering Megi (the swiss), Fillippo, and I checked into the hostel, got some bread for breakfast and then heading out to the city at 9am to walk everywhere (Not returning until 7:30) I'm bushed!!! It was good though. Adelaide isnt really a big city. It's 1 square mile (not including suburbs).. We saw ALL the city, did some tourist shopping, had a cafe snack, got lost by the river (where I had to use the loo), and then 1 hour later found ourselves at the zoo (would've cost $18 just to get in).. so then they gave us directions to get the Botanical Gardens. Phew!! I did make it to the loo!! And saw some pretty plants, trees along the way :) Fillippo and I went to the popular beach here and then came home. (We're getting a little worn on each other) Let me tell you- its difficult travelling when there is a language barrier, spending all ur time together (when you cant even make jokes the other one gets).
City view
. lol.. its interesting.. but we finally made our plans for the next few days so lets hope we can stick to it! Last but not least- my shower experience. Two of them actually. I was sitting out on the patio lounge with Megi when Fillippo (the rico suave italian) walks out with a short towel wrapped on him.. Apparently he thought it was not a problem to walk across the hostel with nothing but a tea towel on.. lol.. Yes, it made things a bit awkward. Second shower experience, was being in a room with no closed door (shower stalls close though), and having about 30 people in the room next to you. The showers are joint between men/women and located just close enough to the social lounge area.. so the whole time u are showering, it feels like they are standing outside ur door having a conversation with u.. Crazy eh!! Anyways, we're only booked here 1 more night, so we'll see if I can survive!! Hugs everyone!!
