Hey-o,
Yesterday Stoyan and I enjoyed the summer weather in Barcelona but got soooo lost in the city since it's all divided in small blocks called "carrer" (get it? squares) but it's pronounced - cay-ay - anyways, after a lengthy frustration, we decided to rent bikes and ride around the city in order to get to all the destinations on our maps. Soooooo fun! They're these orange cruiser type bikes and it's INSANE riding on these narrow, jam-packed streets. There are no lines on the streets and hardly any lights and it's pretty much a free for all. Scooters galore and they can park and ride pretty much anywhere. Our hostel situation didn't really work out. Because I arrived there on a whim, they didn't have any more room left at Stoyan's hostel so we had to find somewhere else and the only other place we could find was quite a ways away from Stoyan's place and so because we didn't want to be separated (it's a dangerous place for solo women) he decided to cancel at his hostel and join me at my new place
We got here at noon and easily found our hostel (right beside a metro stop) and immediately took a metro to the Coloseum in the Ancient City. There are no words to describe the awesomeness unless you see it for yourself. We took a guided tour and took at least a bizillion picutres..lol. The entire area of the city are ruins and they've built modern buildings around rock and ruin...soooooo amazing.
We are back at the hostel now and a nice Canadian (Toronto) guy has lent us his laptop while he's out taking photos. We're always being mistaken for Americanos but we quickly reassure that we're Canadian and they totally change attitudes (the locals that is). This is all overwhelming but I'm loving it and I can't wait to find a way to upload pictures for you all to see.
Tomorrow more Rome, Friday Amsterdam and back on my original itinerary.
love you all,
Josee and Stoyan
p.s. don't mind the grammar...Stoy wants to use the computer and he's rushing me.

Autentica Roma Mianga
. It was a older gentleman's apartment and he rents rooms out to overbooked hostels. Alfonso was his name and he had cute "Littlest Hobo" (yes Rach, just like the one at the ball park) looking dog. We had awesome pictures with him and he showed us real little gems to go and visit. We ate authentic paella and patatas frittas and chorizos...Google it, pretty good stuff. We had drinks on a terrace on the main drag called La Ramblas and watched the locals until 1:00am. Got up early and jumped on the plane to Rome, Italy.
