We left Charlottetown Thursday evening, over the confederation bridge-at 12.9 kilometres long it is the longest bridge in the world crossing ice-covered water. stopped at the lighthouse on PEI for some great shots.
Drove to St Stephens, which is on the Canadian side of the US/Canada border. stayed in a dodgy hotel with no heating, was so glad to get out of there!
the border crossing took ages, the customs guy wanted to know where i was going, when i was getting there, how long i was staying, where i was staying, if i'd booked my ticket home! of course, i had nothing booked, and only rough plans- apparently not such a great idea! i had to get my photo taken and fingerprints done, then the computer broke down and we had to wait....and wait....and wait! finally they let us through and we found a cute little diner to have breakfast. no milk for me though, I've seen the doco "the corporation"!
The fall colors are just spectacular, driving through Maine was brilliant. and so much water!! rivers and lakes everywhere. such a pretty drive.
Stopped at Camden, cute little coastal town, very picturesque, pretty waterfall just out of town. Awesome cafe with local, organic produce, best pizza and blueberry soda!
Beautiful Boston!!
Spent our time here wandering through the city, checking out the malls, irish bars, the waterfront. walked through a market at lunchtime on sunday- big mistake!! so many people. so we went back later, much less crowded.
Boston is a very pretty city, the waterfront is really nice.
