I left Banff early, it was still dark when I boarded the ROAM bus at the hostel. Met andreas from venuzeula, so we hiked to lake louise together. 4kms from the hostel to the lake which is just beautiful. The water is turquoise, and even more brilliant when the sun shines on the water. Then we hiked a further 4km to mirror lake and lake agnes, which werer both frozen. Lots of ice, very slippery. I fell a couple of times, and wear my bruises proudly!! And a scratch on my forehead from one of the many trees we had to climb under, over and around!!Magnificent views from the top of the mountain, we are pretty high up. Lots of white fluffy snow, and lots of animal prints, including one I think might be a bear!
It was snowing very lightly on the way up to the lake, I love the feeling of snowflakes on my eyelashes. Even caught one snowflake. Brilliant. Lots of little creeks, lots of ice formed on the logs in the river. Sun is shining, which is very strange when there is lots of snow on the ground.
