Halifax has been very good to me!
I stayed the first few nights with a lovely lady Margaret just outside of town, walked around the city and by the water. We had a bbq on saturday night with her son and his wife and grandparents. I learnt how to cook a chicken with a beer can...... so good!
there is a board walk along the river, and cruise ships stop here, saw one leaving- heard it too!
i went to the farmers market on saturday morning, loads of local arts and produce.
the public gardens are really pretty, lots of colorful flowers and plants.
i saw two moose on the way here- the highlight of the bus trip!! The countryside is really beautiful, so many trees. the colors are just starting to change.....
there are a couple of really old cemetarys in town.
also a fall fair- lots of free yummies, and a car show in one of the local parks.
I'm helping out at the hostel here in return for my accommodation.
I stopped in at Halifax after Cape Breton, did a day tour out to Peggy's cove, Lunenburg. Peggy's cove was pretty but full of tourists and coaches. Amazing coastline, a bit like remarkable rocks in Kangaroo Island. We stopped at a beach in Queensland (!) clear blue water and white sand-the kind of beaches I like. The water was so cold, but I stuck my feet in. the landscape here is very different, rocky and lots of little plants. Gorgeous coastal views.
Luneneberg is another cute little coastal town, nice to walk around and see the sights. Beautiful old church just outside town.
