This morning, we did breakfast at 9, figuring we would have a final
breakfast with most people. We're eating breakfast, minding our own
businesswhen Libby comes up and asks us if we ordered a transfer for
9:30 to take us to the other hotel. We told her we hadn't, all we did
was ask the desk the other night how long we would need to wait for a
cab. She told us the transfer would cost us 27 euro each. Seemed like a
lot of money, so she said she'll send him on his way. She figurees the
Contiki office ordered the transfer for us but didn't bother to ask us
if we wanted it, or tell anybody we were getting it.
We go back to our room to pack when Libby calls, asking us to check we
don't have a transfer vouchers, which we didn't. OK, we thought that
was the end of it. A few minutes later, she calls again, telling us she
managed to get us the transfer paid for by Contiki, so grab our stuff
and come down. I think it was the fastest pack of my life. It took us a
long time to get to this hotel, which is at the other end of Rome. It
looks like a nice place, but again, middle of nowhere. We checked in
and headed into the center. Again, a long time.
We made it to St. Peters and tried to find Fatima and Sebastian, but
that place is too big. After lunch, we tried to find the Cappucine
crypt. It's not a very well labeled building. We finally found it but
it didn't open for another 30 minutes. We wandered, found some internet
and then it was open. It's a bit...weird. They used human bones to make
art. Definitly worth seeing if you like things a bit out of the
ordinary.
We walked back to Piazza Espagne for some yummy gelato. By the time we
were through, it was around 4:30. We didn't know what to do for dinner,
but figured worse comes to worse, we'd eat in the hotel. Lucky for us,
there's a grocery store right across the street from our hotel. We got
some meats and cheese, bread, apples, olyve, yogurt, and mini
croissants, all for under 8 euro. We ate pretty well that night.
As I was doing some wash in the sink, I hear Dana scream "There's
ants!" There were a whole lot of them coming out of the wall. I ran
downstairs, leaving my clothes in the sink and Dana throws a towel over
her laundry. They sent somebody up and he's undoing the bed even though
they were all over the dresser. He finally sees them and leaves to get
bug spray. We told the reception we want another room, no way were we
sleeping in that room. They gave us a new, hopefully bug free room
without any fuss.
