Oktoberfest - A beer drinkers Paradise

. It really is a festive atmosphere even in the daytime. At night it becomes a party hardy place, which you will find the evidence of all over the trains, sidewalks etc. You learn to be careful about where you walk and sit, and who you sit by. After leaving the Oktoberfest grounds we headed for the Hofbrauhaus for some of their beer and a pretzel. All in all it was a pretty good beer day. I hope we will be able to get back next year and spend 4 -5 days at the festival. I will definitely have some lederhosen made for the festivities.
We arrived back at the Hotel Henry in Erding to find that we were 45 minutes late for our bike ride meeting (which was supposed to be held a couple of hours later ). Oh well, I don't think we missed much. After the meeting we got the paperwork done for the bike rentals and went down to the underground garage to check out the bikes and get them ready for tomorrow mornings departure. It was a late night as it seemed to take forever to get our gear ready and all our stuff packed and ready for the morning.
Monday October 1, 2007 - We slept in a couple of hours this morning and rolled out of bed at 7 am, showered and went down for breakfast. It was a mistake to sleep in because much of the food was gone and it seemed to take forever for it to get replenished. We found enough food to fill our tummies, had a wonderful espresso and headed for the train to Oktoberfest. It was a short walk to the train stop now that we know the route. We got to Oktoberfest around 10:30; just in time to find the Augustiner beer tent and locate a place to sit. They start serving beer at 11:00 am, and we were handed a liter of Augustiner Oktoberfest brew promptly at 11:00; what a great morning treat. We wandered the grounds and hit every one of the beer tents from all the different beer brewers. These tents are amazing; not the kind of tents we think of back home. The small tents hold over 3,000 inside and 1,000 outside, while the larger tents hold around 10,000 inside and roughly 3,000 outside. Each tent is very elaborate and unique as to look, decorations, bands and special foods
