So, one thing that is certain about our neighborhood is that there are tons of cafes and restaurants, but sooooo many of them are just overpriced garbage tourist junk holes. Bad food, bad service, at expensive prices. So last night, I stayed up past 3am Prague time and researched the heck out of food joints around. I now am equipped with a "food map" for us to use while here.
This morning we decided to try out Friends Cafe ... and I loved it! Simon and Janice said it felt very Americanized, but I disagreed. It had a small sized cafe in the front where you'd get yer stuff, then walk through a short hallway of windows, in to an eating area seperated in to small rooms with different interior decorating, it was as if each room had its own style
Next, we walked over to a hidden little park ... really hard to find, in the middle of huge buildings ... Franciscan Garden ... a couple of nice statues, a kids play area, perfect weather. Relaxation! (insert janice moustache joke here)
Simon is seeing how Janice and I live and relate and talk and such and he thinks it is pretty ... funny? hahahahha. At the park he asked, "Is this how you guys ALWAYS are?" ... as if we were putting on a routine for him or something.
So then, some more walking, grocery store run (we grabbed some stuff for our arriving Styrsky family today), and back to apartment to rest up some. I went over our old apartment building around the corner and arrived just in time to greet our Styrsky family from Sacramento! Al, Idamay, Alina, Aunt Lou, and Idamay's old friend Tracy. They were in great spirits, only a slight plane delay getting here, but all doing good! Left them to get ready in their apartment, then met back up with them and were joined by Christina and Theoger, AND .... our family from Skutec, Lida and her nephew John
Some chit chat, I snuck out and put in reservations at a nearby place I'd researched, and then hailed everybody to come and eat. Good czech food ... dumplings, gravy, beef. Simon is sold on chicken snizchel.
On the way back, we stopped in to Old Square to have at least one Prague experience to end the day. WIth no line at all, we decided to hike to the top of the Astronomical Clock Tower (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prague_Astronomical_Clock) ... Great views, great weather, good times.
A quick hike looking for some dessert ... then back home to sleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep!!!!!
