We wake up feeling VERY refreshed ... a solid night's sleep for all! The kids wake up asking about the hotel breakfast. So cool that they like it here. Samuel says, "I wish we could live here all the time. Well, not all the time because I miss my friends. But maybe if they all could come here... then I would."
Janice offers to take the kids on the carroseal (they've been dying to go since we got here) ... and let me go check out the Arromanches D-Day museum, that I've read has an outstanding history on the town and the vital role it's port played in the war. I take her up on the offer. WOW. What a great feat of engineering that port was. You can wiki / youtube it I'm sure. Crazy crazy stuff. Inspiring.
After an hour or two in the museum, we pack the car and drive home
Our trip to Rennes is so-so. Drab city, with a cool interior center ... We have lunch at a little gyro joint. Janice sees police arrest a man, and then a couple of minutes later sees a homeless man's dog nearly bite a little boy. Ok. Thats enough Rennes for us. : )
Back in the car to Chateau-Gontier. Fill up the car with gas. Buy some groceries. Blog. Email. ... And a nice phone call with my Grandma Ella thanking her for supporting my Grandpa Al during the war (and after). Great to talk with her and hear some war stories. The kids enjoy talking to her too.
Our endurance is definately running low hear towards the end of the trip. When we first arrived in Spain, a three night trip like this wouldn't have been too tough. But now, we are on fumes. We just want to stay home, here in Chateau-Gontier. Its so nice. We have a good feel for the peaceful pace of the town, we know the layout, recognize some faces, ... we love it. Good to be back.
The countdown to leave is at six days! Then, its on to Disney Paris (sshhhh! surprise for the kids) ... then Paris for five nights, where my mom is meeting us ... then home on Sept. 1. We can't wait for it all, .... but more than anything, tonight we can't wait to rest.

"I'm faster than YOU, Brother!"
. The original plan was to jam to more city stops in to the drive home (Honfluer, famously beautfiul river town, and Rouen, sight of Joan the Arc's murder) ... but we've decided its just too much. We are on cool-stuff-overload ... and my butt hurts from driving. So we decide instead to head towards home and check out Rennes, a city we've heard much about but haven't visited yet.Our trip to Rennes is so-so. Drab city, with a cool interior center ...
