Yes, well... with all the progress thats been made with technology and what not, it seems like every corporate meeting I go to, they say something like, "With our new eTech, you will be able to sell our widgets from a sailboat across the globe!" ... and so I got to thinking. Several years ago, Janice and I dreamed of being able to move away from the USA for 1/2 year or so to try to expose our children (and ourselves) to other cultures of the world. Specifically, Janice has always wanted to give our children the opportunity to experience the Spanish language first hand as she was able to do as a child. We've taken the little ones on various trips around the US, but (with the exception of Mexico), never out of the country.

For the past year or so we'ved batted around the idea of doing a homexchange, and then we saw the movie, "The Holiday". It stars Jack Black and Cameron Diaz and tells the love story of two lonely individuals who do a home swap and find true love waiting for them. Great little chick flick. After we saw it, we were sold on the idea and said, "Some day ... some day..." And now, the day has come!

4th qrtr 2007, I was looking for some inspiration to grow my business to the 'next level' and one day in late December (shortly after my 30th bday) it dawned on me that instead of focusing on GROWING the business that I have built, we should take a moment to enjoy it and the flexibility that the industry offers. 90% of my business is done via phone, internet, and email ... and with a solid staff staying local and taking care of loyal clients, I believe I can be physically gone from the office for a good 1/2 year and still provide my clients with great service and grow the business by working from a remote location. I'm working on converting my office to a fully internet based paperless client management system, so by the time the trip comes around, I'll be able to see every bill, policy, and correspondence we have with my clients. And I found SKYPE, which allows me international calling for less than 2 cents per minute!

I ran the idea by Janice, the kids, and the staff ... and everybody was for it. So... off we go!

Our original goal was to spend two full months in Spain and then return home, but we found it was tough to find somebody else that wanted to exchange for that long. So, we settled on 3 weeks of an exchange in Spain, and 3 weeks in France. Then, we tacked on a couple days on the front end of the trip in Ireland (since flights were cheapest there), a week in Barcelona (to experience the more common Spain experience), and a week in Paris (can't skip Paris when in France, right?).

We are super excited about the whole trip and I hope to do at least a weekly blog, possibly more depending on ... well, depending on whatever the heck I feel like doing at the time. : )

Traveling overseas with our 5yr old and 3yr old will be ... a challenge, I'm sure.

Feel free to check back here for updates as we travel, and if you'd like to chat while we are on the road, go to www.skype.com and install the free program. Its a lot of fun, and absolutely FREE to use. You can do video chat and everything for zilch.

Talk to you soon!

Now that everyone hates you...
Not me of course...I love you but just wonder who your parents are. What a wonderful man you are! (oppps...is that being proud?) I am of you.

What a magnificant journey...all of it.

Your vacation is just dreamy. We will hold you all even closer in our prayers and hearts. Watch out for those rogue waves.

Love you all very much,

Happy Trails!
Pretty cool stuff, my son. (Hi Daddy-V)

We found our passports - hooray - so we're booking our France-Italy adventure tomorrow.

Two weeks on the farm in Provence for me with my painterly girls, then Dave and another of the husbands is flying over.

We'll all stay on the farm for a few days before we take the train from Nice to Vernazza, one of five little villages on the seaside cliffs in Italy. We'll be there for 3 nights.

Afterwards we'll head back to Provence and Dave and I will drive up to a cool little village called Tourtour. rom there we can day trip to Bargeme (the castle I told you about) and to the Verdone Gorge (the French equivalent of the Grand Canyon).

Then a couple of days cruising around some museums and the music scene in St Paul de Vence, Antibes, Cannes and Menton before we head back on the 24th of June.

July is Maui for 5 days, a trip Dave is still in the lead for. He's kicking butt, so we'll go.

I'm still hoping to meet you guys in Paris for a week, so you can do evening stuff and ol' Mimi can relax with Sam and Ella. What are the dates again? And can I still come or did you come to your senses?Once I have our Provence trip purchased and settled, I'll go for the ticket to Paris.

It is important to observe that shoes are considered important not only for providing protection to the feet but also because they help in enhancing the looks of the character. Without shoes it is even hard to suppose any equip that looks full. As shoes play a very important function in contributing to the looks of the part it is very important to deem diverse equipment before available for them.
