It´s Sabana not Savannah, it sounds the same and means the same, however i wasn´t aware Alejandro and Emiro were giving me the Spanish name until I saw the signs. On the way to le Gran Sabana we satyed in Anaco with the brothers Grandfather. Anaco is a typical sth American town, concrete building with the bare necessities but we were made more than welcome. On the porch playing dominos and shooting whiskey, it was there we were let in on wise advice, 1st whiskey with water, 2nd without water, 3rd like water. Even with an early departure the follwoing morning this continued into the late hours of the evening.
The next day we still had some 10hours in the car ahead of us. Prior to reaching le Gran Sabana we had a dramatic change of sencery, from low level grasslands with the odd oil pump to dense jungle. Starting the climb it only become more dense. Upon reaching over destination we were greeted by the sign telling us we are at 1550m and there was just and futher expanse of rolling countryside with futher mountains and petuies reaching to the skies in the distance. It can best be described as a mountain range on top of a mountain. Many waterfalls spectacular horizons, unfortunately i dont think my phots will do it justice. Due to car troubles earlier in Caracas we were not in a suitable vechile to see the best of areas but was great none the less. Camping for three nights was distrubed by the worse sandfly invasions i have ever encountered, what your thinking times 100. So it can be said Venezula has left its mark on me, many marks...
Im running out of time, have held up this computer long enough, im in Lime awaiting depart for Santiago then on the Mendoza for the ski fields of las lenas. Will complete the past week there.
ĄSalud!
