30/7/06

Now in Pokhara. It is a touristy destination - only got here today. Polina and i got the 10 hour bus journey (172km) from Bhairawa successfully and then got a taxi to the centre. The guy offered us a free ride if we stayed at his Guest house and as it was so cheap we will stay for tonight only. It has given me a chance to catch up with my log now and tomorrow we can look around at our leasure to find a nicer place. All is well in Pokhara - shame about the weather - mind you it is monsoon season!

1/8/06

Can believe its August! Today Polina and i went on a nice boat trip on the lake - i had really nice time except the unbearable heat Budha 1
Budha 1
! We then cycled into the town and managed to save loads on the internet- it was well worth the 4km cycle it the boiling heat :-)now we have to try and prolong Polinas stay in Asia - fingers crossed!

Yesterday we went out for a nice meal and there was a Nepalese show which involved 6 dancers and 4 musicians. It was nothing special but a nice little dose of culture in a very non cultured touristy place! We also checked out a load of rooms and although they were all nicer than where we are staying i love the proce of qwhere we are staying so i have decided i dont want ot move - i think Polina does but i think she is ok with it all (i hope she is). I have also planed the next month of our travels here in Nepal - polina is going to read it through but it sounds pretty exciting :-)

3/8/06

Polina's staying ;-) she got a flight extension so we have more time and it looks like we are going to Sri Lanka, i have sorted some half descent flights so hopefully it will all get aranged!

The past day was spent going for 'the leachy walk' as Polina calls it. We walked upto the World Peace Monument and it was really great APPART FROM the leaches - they were everywhere, you stop for literally 10 secs to pull one off your leg and 5 more crawl on to suck your blood! I had this good but fairly unsuccessfull idea to RUN !!!! That way i though they might not be able to catch on too well - but they can! Stupid idea!

Once we got there it was nice and we met a couple up there, the guy had been bitten loads on his foot, his shoe was full of blood! At least i could see em through my flipflops to pull them off. The Belgium couple got a lake boat there and kindly rode us back to our shore so we wouldnt get too badly attacked on the way back. I swam most the way though, it was really nice to swim again - its been a while.

And the Plan - it is all finalised so i know what we are doing for an entire month - and its loads! from here we go to Bandipur to see a cave and stuff - it promises to be good!
