I drove us up to the South Australia/Northern Teritory Border near Yulara.
it was SO boring - it was hard work to stay awake - to think this is the only utback a lot of travelers see is a travesty! There was literally nothing to speak of other than the changing scenary from desert to scrub to occasional greenary. It took 4 hours and we left the previous stop late intentionaly.
I was very relieved to pull into the Boarder stop for the night - I was getting SO sick of driving - no fun at all out here.
At the stop there were loads of caravans and we could barely find a point to park up.
We cooked a nice meal and had more of Fabrice's fabulous wine with good cards and chess. the sunset was stunning and then I got a good nights sleep for once - i bought earplugs!
In the morning a girl with Downsyndrome came over and talked to us for quite a while. She was 22 from Sydney and Fabrice was excelent at speaking to her - I was ok but I couldnt have kept the conversation going half as well as he did - he has some friends with Downsyndrome and it is really something I have barely encountered - it was very interesting and she was very interested in boys like any 22 yr old girl would be, I just couldnt help but think how hard it would be for her at this point in her life. She had great soscial skills and it was a real eye opener.
After a couple of hours of breakfast and washing up Fabrice took charge of the wheel on the way to Alice.
