Ciudad Del Este... PARAGUAY

I got the bus from Brazil and got off with a locals help at the Brazilian Imigration to get my stamp which certainly was not the norm - basically no one gets a stamp here. I then walked accross the bridge which the lonely planet says is dangerous with no problems, got my entry stamp in Paraguayan immigration, hopped onto another bus to the bus terminal and could see the name of my hotel towering above the bus station - kinda handy really!

In the past 4 days ive gone from Argentina to Brazil to Paraguay - there is a frontier which connects the three - Paraguay is like a 3rd world country in comparisson to the other two - its so good though.

Ciudad Del Este is like walking from South America through a porthole into a seriously dodgy boarder town in Asia. Im walking around, watching my stuff, trying not to get raped and murdered.   I spent 3 hours of today on local buses, I just hopped on a bus - any bus and we went to the end of the line in some shanty town. Then I got off and hopped onto another local bus that bought me back to the centre - trying to chat with the bus driver, drinking a kind of menthol, cold Mate and watching while he dressed the bus up in festival gere - i guess for Easter. - Not too safe when they are attaching things to the steering wheel and the gere stick while we are bombing along a  cobled street at 1,000,000 mph!

Then I walked around all the stalls selling various knives, bags, sun glasses, dirty dvds and socks took a few pics, ate at a supermarket restaurant and then got a bus back to the termnal and my Hotel. I tried to go to the Dam today (2nd biggest in the world) but it is an imposibility today so I guess I aint going! Im going to Asunction today - the capital of Paraguay. Its so different but also SO cool here - although the tempreatures are crazy hot - im going to have a beer and a Siesta now!

After a thoughrly relaxing evening I am on the 7.30am bus tomorrow to Asuncion (the Capital) tomorrow. Should be fun.
