Thank god!!
We really needed a pick me up after our ordeal the other day. We went shopping and I got some pretty shitty clothes for not very much money as I had nothing! I also stocked up on toilettries.
On Christmas eve we saw a bunch of ruins called Chan Chan and they were very impressive mud structures - a massive pre incan city, we also saw 2 other ruins not quite so impressive but then we went Christmas shopping.
We went into Trujillo for Christmas shopping and I bought a Christmas tree with tinsell, a santa clause, 2 Christmas hats and Sarah bought a Plastic Christmas Sheep and Monkey - dont ask!
I bought Sarah a nice Anclet, it took a while to choose but it was a nice present and she bought me a yellow watch - just what i wanted!!
We also bought an amazing feast to cook for Christmas day - Macharonni Cheese, Salad, Roast Potatoes, Pate, Toast, Garlic Toast, Fruit salad and a massiive Christmas cake with Inca Cola - it was all really good!
Christmas day was great but the cooking itself was a bit difficult. We had to share the kitchen with a LARGE family - they were good with it all but it was stressfull.
The place we are staying in is really nice with a TV lounge, kitchen, nice BIG bed and it really is nice with a nice beach, nice weather, nice tempreature of the water, nice Chiviche (raw fish) and Inca Cola - its grrreat!
Christmas here in South America is a really busy experiance, the streets are packed, there are musical lights everywhere, lights, christmas trees, festive happy people, 100's of street venders selling all kinds of usless crap which you could never imagine anyone wants - it really is a wonderful place to spend Christmas. We had nice Turkey and Ham Sandwiches in Trujillo which put me in the festive mood, no mince pies but apart from that it is quite amazing the simmilarities - other than the fact im on a beach and the weather is stunning!
We like it so much here we are staying for Boxing day - (today) and then tomorrow morn we will head off to Casma.
