We left Indy and headed west.  The weather was hot and humid.  We saw mostly corn fields for ever in Indiana and Illinois, the same in Iowa except you could smell a little pre-bacon from time to time.

The next day we took off early too - and again were soaked in sweat just getting going [ we kept one  towel in the trailer and another in the Durango - just to wipe the sweat off -- it was required about 5 times a hook up.] -- and hooking up is not hard.

The outside temperature got up to 102F with a steady wind 25 - 40 mph during the first half of our trip.  The second half the wind settled down and the temp dropped into the high 90's.  About 100 miles from Rapid City we could see a jagged edge to the horizon -- it was the Black Hills of South Dakota.  It was the first time we could see mountains on the horizon since we left North Dakota over two months ago.

Our RV park was about 5 miles from Rapid City at elevation 3800 feet.  The temp and humidity was "comfortable'  -- no towel required.

In the last two days we covered over 1100 miles, 5 states [IN, IL, IA, MN, SD] and two time zones -- we are now in Mountain Time.  We were very tired but because of the time zone changes it was tolerable.

Tomorrow we head to Mt. Rushmore.
