We got up early for the long drive to San Pedro de Atacama in Northern Chile. This meant crossing the Andes, and experiencing altitude for the first time. I think the highest we got this day was around 4,300m asl.

The ride through the was beautiful, although I did feel the effects of the altitude for most of the day, and couldī't stand up fro too lond at a time! nessie was feeling it too - at the Argentinian border she refused to start, and had to get a helping shove from all her passengers, as well as a passing truck!

After 3 hours through no man's land we reached Chile's customs and had all our bag searched, as well as the truck. Finally we made it into San Pedro for dinner and sleep!

The following day we explored the streets of pretty little San Pedro, and the surrounding area, including a walk in the blistering midday sun to some ruins and a visit to the Valle de la Luna (moon valley) for sunset.

After our brief stint in Chile, it was time to move on again, this time to Bolivia...
