Colonial churches and cobbled streets

Kerry and I must´ve looked around over 10 churches dotted around the town. Some of the paintings in the churches were done by Brasil´s own version of Michaelangelo, although this guy has no hands or legs, but still managed to paint beautifully. Unfortunately the statues in the churches were all really plastic & doll like, and looked so cheap and nasty in these beautiful, ornate churches. They also looked really morbid: Brasilian churches tend to focus on the death, suffering and blood and gore parts of christianity!
On our last night in Ouro Preto Bianca did a little presentation: she´d read each of us a poem she´d written and then presented us with a gift linked to the poem. I received...a caiprinha crusher!
The next day we headed for the final desitnation on our tour: Rio de Janeiro. On the way we stopped at a pretty white basilica in the mountains, where lots of Brasilians go on a pilgramage to.
