Entry 3 of 44 | show all | print this entry

Had a long 15-hour day of travel yesterday. Had planned things perfectly - train north to Alexandria and then walk ouside the station to the bus stop to catch the connection to Siwa. Unfortunately they decided to move the bus stop.
Had to take a 30 minute ride there which made me miss the connection. So I was stuck there for 2.5 hours waiting in the middle of nowhere. Ate 3 plates of Kushary from a cart to pass the time and fill my belly for the 9-hour ride.
Siwa is verrry nice. Calm and relaxed, way out in the desert near the border with Libya:

Went for a bicycle ride today out in the palm groves through all kind of tiny villages. Tomorrow I'm off on a desert trip to hot springs and riding the sand board down the dunes!
Eating lots more good food. Just had a half roast chicken, some veg salad, pitas, mint tea for about $4 while sitting on a pile of cushions. No wine and ladies feeding me grapes tonight, though.
