Well, it's been a busy few days... I've managed to get my feet on the ground. I've got the money situation under control, have found some great food, and some great sights.
A couple of days ago I took a pass on the 20LE cab ride to the Giza pyramids in favor of testing out the public bus... managed ok and it only cost .75LE. Huge difference. It's inexpensive either way, but the satifaction of traveling like a local and meeting them in their setting is priceless.
At the pyramids, saaw the Sphinx! Very cool.
Went to bed and still could not sleep despite being zapped from about 3 nights of skinny sleep. Dozed off abot 3am and woke to pitch black. Checked my watch and it said 11:15am!!! Couldn't belive it. My body finally said, "OK, we're shutting off for a good rest.'
Met a Canadian girl about 10 minutes after getting up and went to the museum with her... highlight was King Tut's gold mask. Then in the evening went to see the Whirling Dervishes dance as well as touring in Islamic Cairo. Climbed a giant tower for a great view.
Ate some great Falaphal sandwiches for .30 cents, fresh strawberry juice so think you have to chew it for .60 cents.
Today toured out of town to some more pyramids, the highlight being the Red Pyramid where you can decend a narrow tunnel into it's depths leading to the burial chambers. Super cool. Like being inside of a mountain.
Heading off to Siwa Oasis for some relaxation tommorow. Should be about an 11 hour day.
