Arrival in Cairo
Entry 1 of 44 | show all | print this entry |
Well, I am on my second day in Egypt.
No matter how many places I go, it never seems to get any easier. The first day, after I landed here in Cairo, I was quite tired from the flight, plus not being able to sleep more than a few hours over the night due to the reversal in time. I basically wandered around for the day, trying to get a feel for things - the "rules", people, road crossing procedures, getting my cards refused from ATM's! Ate lunch with a couple of nice Egyptian girls who offered me a seat at their table ;-) Met a guy from the US, so dragged him out to the night market in the evening.
Last night I still didn't sleep more than 3 hours, but got up and went out the to pyramids and saw the Sphinx! Verry cool. I really wanted to scramble the pyramids, but there were guards with really big black guns, so I decided not to. I'm not sure a pyramid would count as a peak anyhow.
Anyhow, I'm starting to get things settled down here. Have the ATM thing worked out, so have some cash, and am feeling more comfortable fitting in on the streets. People thus far have been very friendly and helpful.

Sting??!! Now I am confused. I thought you are Papa Parry. Anyway....it is nice to hear that you are still in one piece there. I hope everything is going well. Do not worry about luck of sleep - you are on your holidays!!! Keep in touch. Joanna.
