Day 4 24/11/06
Got up early this morning mostly to avail of the free breakfast but to book our bus to Foz do Iguazu on the Argentinian/Paraguayan border. After about an hour of searching and after paying almost triple what our BIBLE the lonely planet guide book had told us we booked our bus. After showering and packing in the space of 20 mins we got a taxi up to the bus station for our 1.3o bus. Leaving Rios suburbs it was even more apparent how poor these people are. Passing tiny brick shacks with dirt roads around them and kids playing in the streets came as a bit of a wake i]up call as to how lucky we are in Ireland. The bus was so comfortable and consisted basically of reading, listening to our iPods and sleeping. Every so often weŽd stop at some truck stop in the middle of nowhere. We had no idea where we were and nobody could speak English so it just became a case of point at what you thought looked edible. WeŽve managed to learn 1 word of Portugese - "Obrigado" which means thanks but most of the time we just look at them with blank expressions and go "No Portugesio" - a word I just made up.
