So i guess this is my first entry on my travel blog. Dont really know how to use this thing yet so if it all looks out of place bare with me whilst i get to grips with it!

First things first, the flight. This has to have been then longest 25 hours or so of my life and with my mouth, it was pretty hard staying quiet for so long with no one really to talk to! The first leg of the flight went pretty well until about 9 or 10 hours in where we had around 5 minutes of severe turbulance. I can honestly say i have never felt the need to crap my pants so much in my life than the 5 minutes of being thrown around and feeling like i have dropped several hundred feet every few seconds, i think i actually may have touched cloth! But i finally made it safely into Changi airport in Singapore in one piece and was glad me feet were on the ground for the next 3 and a half hours.

I managed to find a bar in the airport outside and had a beer Jamie Swimming Pool

. Wasnt until after i had paid and they had charged my card i realised i paid almost 8 pound for a bloody pint! Anyway lesson was learnt and i also learnt that when you havent slept for around 24 hours having a pint in 30 degree weather was NOT a good idea! Anyways after taking some special power drink my bro gave me earlier and feeling like i was stoned from the lack of sleep, beer, wine on plane and then this power drink i managed to stay awake and make it onto my next plane ok.

The second leg of the journey was going pretty well. It was supposed to take around 7 hours which wasnt too bad that is until we were 15 minutes from landing at Brisbane airport. I looked at the TV screen and the timer suddenly changed and said Cairns Airport and estimated time of 2 hours! 5 Minutes later we had an announcement saying that due to severe fog on most of the east coast it wasnt safe to land and we we had to be diverted about 1000 miles up to bloody Cairns! After arriving at Cairns and refuelling we were then told that there was a problem with plane and engineers were fixing it. Any ways another few hour later we finally made it into Brisbane airport and i couldnt wait to get off the bloody plane as i was pretty much ready to chuck up. The last obstacle was getting off the plane as the bridge that attaches to the plane broke down and we had to wait 25 minutes to be let off! Nightmare. So thats the journey covered... I didnt really suffer from jet lag much probably because im generally a
lazy person anyway and can sleep when ever so it took only a day for me
to pretty much recover from the lack of sleep and time difference.

As ive rambled on so much about the flight ill TRY keep the rest of this entry short. Ive spent the last 10 days at Jamies AMAZING house and he has the most amazing swimming pool and a room with a pool table to keep me going when we were here. Most of the week has been spent binge eating and making the most of the luxuries before we live like students eating super noodles and beans on toast. For some reasons the Aussies keep banging on about meat and gravy pies and telling me u havent been to oz unless u have a pie. Funny that coz i thought it was a british thing?

Ive met most of Jamies friends over the last week and they are all a pretty cool bunch of people. I even went to his friend Beccas birthday with Jamie and all thier friends for an evening in a restaraunt which was nice.

On Wednesday we went to Australia Zoo for half a day. The Zoo was awesome, the kangaroos and the koalas were in huge enclosures which we could roam around in with them and feed them etc so it was a great opportunity to take some pics with them! Was also amazing to see the tigers and how the keepers were just casually playing with them in the enclosures, something im sure we wouldnt see back home The Irwin family

.

One thing i have learnt about Australia is there love for Steve Irwin and his family. Everyone is absoloutely obsessed with him and the family and he was some sort of national treasure to them. His daughter 'Bindi' has to be the most irritating looking child i have ever seen and the whole place was covered in Bindi merchandise such as her jungle dance work out video? She even has Bindi type barbie doll! Managed to catch the croc show which was ok i guess but the croc looked like he couldnt really be bothered to do anything. So only half a day spent there as it was so quiet and we got round pretty quick but none the less i was impressed.

Me and Jamie have psyched ourselves up for our travels by watching Rogue (Croc film bit like Lake Placid) and Wolf Creek. Kinda glad that im travelling by coach and not a car now!

Last thing to ramble on about for now is Jamies leaving party last night. Several of Jamies mates came round for a big farewell piss up which was a good laugh. I dont think i have ever seen ANYONE consume the amount of alcohol that Jamie and his mates consumed last night. Jamie polished off a 1.5L bottle of Bundaberg rum and everyone else had atleast a litre of Vodka and the patrying went on way into the early hours to around half 3/4 in the morning. Was a VERY messy night and Jamie has been spending the entire day looking a bit worse for wear haha.

Anyways thats enough for now. Im flying to Cairns tomorrow morning and going to Port Douglas which is about an hour north of Cairns and we will be spending our first week on travelling here so i will update this within the next week or so.

Updates to follow soon! Smoody
