Sue, Enzo, Cathy and I were up reasonably early for a light breakfast before beginning today's adventure. We were picked up at the hotel at 8:15am and driven to another restaurant overlooking Kintamani volcano for our second breakfast. Then we were fitted out with our bike helmets and mountain bikes before heading off on the 45km ride back to Ubud.
We had a great guide called Wayan (of course) who led us through the many villages and rice paddies and provided lots of information. We happened along the end of a ceremony at one of the village temples which was great to see. We said, "Hello" to about a thousand kids along the way who came running out as we passed through their villages. It was a real delight.
As we got closer to Ubud we passed numerous small woodcarvers' premises. Their work was amazing - especially the huge, brightly coloured garudas. By this stage Enzo was running out of steam having only just recovered from his lurgy. Consequently, he was glad to arrive at our destination - a small upstairs restaurant next to the main hall in the heart of Ubud.
Here we had a refreshing swim in the pool right next to the dining area, then we hopped into the lunch (even though it was now 3:00pm) which was included in the price.
When we were all finished, we were driven back to the hotel where we caught up with Deb and Kev who had "shopped 'til they dropped." And they HAD dropped!
Well, the day is almost over - so it's off to Tutmak for tea. Gee it's tough.
Note: There will be more photos added later.
