Our jaunt around the Baltic States.

We finished our five days jaunt around the Baltic States with two weekend nights in the Latvian capital of Riga. Out of the three capitals we visited on this trip, Riga is the only one that really has some size to it and hence also some of the hustle and bustle of a big city. Again we stayed in the old town, and spent most of our time walking around snapping photos of historical buildings, churches and monuments. We enjoyed all three cities a lot and found all of them very modern with lots of history of course. December month was also very nice to us with pleasant weather and temperatures. That certainly helped making it a more enjoyable trip.
Leaving Riga on a Sunday afternoon flight to Madrid (via Copenhagen), it also takes this year of travel to an end (almost at least, as I still plan to spend Christmas and New Year in my hometown Elverum in Norway as well as in my apartment in Alcossebre on the Mediterranean coast of Spain). 2006, a year very different from 2005 where I spent the entire 12 months traveling around Latin America. The year has gone by incredibly fast in the Spanish capital with a good mix of work (well, too much of that), travel and parties. I have not been outside Europe since I returned from Buenos Aires back in January this year, and I have burnt off all my vacation days on trips back home to Norway, Alcossebre and on European city breaks. I have however managed to visit five new countries this year which takes my count to 52 (counting visited countries is a stupid hobby I've been told, but who cares...) Saying that, I really hope that next year will bring many new adventures on the travel front and that I get the opportunity to head off to some exotic location once again. Time will show...
